GRANITE FALLS -- A search and rescue crew Sunday recovered the body of a man found outside Granite Falls near the Stillaguamish River.

A person who lives in the area spotted the man's body about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Snohomish County sheriff's Lt. Steve Dittoe said. The body was located about 200 feet down a cliff, he said.

A search and rescue crew was called out near Silverton Way to maneuver over the rugged terrain. The crew was able to reach the scene early Sunday evening.

The body was turned over to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office. Investigators there are expected to determine the man's identity and cause of death.

Snohomish County sheriff's detectives continue to investigate. There was no word Sunday if authorities suspect that man was a victim of foul play or an accident.

No additional details about the investigation were released.
