FERNDALE — An undercover officer has arrested a man suspected in more than a dozen business burglaries in the northwest Washington community of Ferndale.
Detective Melanie Campos told the Bellingham Herald that a man was caught breaking into a Main Street business early Sunday.
Campos said a 25-year-old was arrested and booked into jail for investigation.
Police said the downtown break-ins started in early November. In each case, a burglar shattered glass windows or doors and ransacked cash registers.
One flower shop was hit three times in four nights. Shop owner Ginger Burress said the crime wave almost drove her to shut down her store.
Police said he has a previous conviction for breaking into a Bellingham music store and stealing a guitar.
