Stuff: See a school bus, donate food
Bus drivers and other staff members from the Mukilteo School District will take donations for the Mukilteo Food Bank from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Albertson’s store at Beverly Park Road and the Mukilteo Speedway.
A recently purchased school bus will be on hand at the event so members of the community can get a look at the kind of vehicles that will be purchased with funds from a recently approved transportation levy.
The levy, which was approved by nearly 60 percent of voters last month, will raise $3 million in 2013, which will be used to purchase about 30 new school buses during the next several years.
Eat: Bake sale helps wetland project
A bake sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday to benefit the Lake Stickney Conservancy, a neighborhood nonprofit that has helped to protect wetlands near the lake.
There will be cakes, jams, brownies, cookies and more. Samples will help the undecided. The sale will be held at the Lake Stickney Community Club House, 1428 S. Lake Stickney Drive, Lynnwood.
Give: Holiday tree tags help kids
The city of Edmonds’ Giving Trees are up and decorated with gift ideas for children throughout Snohomish County.
The public is encouraged to pick a tag for a needy child at two locations, Edmonds City Hall at 121 Fifth Ave. or Frances Anderson Center at 700 Main St.
The tags are printed with the age and gender of the child, the gift they would most like to receive, and instructions for donors.
Once you decide on which tag you want, all you have to do is shop, wrap, tape the tag securely to the outside of the gift, and return it to the tree by 4 p.m. Saturday.
The city works with Volunteers of America which provided the gift tags and will deliver all the donated gifts.
