Mirco Mueller named to Top Prospects Game

Silvertips defenseman Mirco Mueller was one of 14 WHLers named today to the CHL Top Prospects Game, which will be played Jan. 16 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The game features the top 40 NHL draft-eligible players from the three CHL leagues.

Mueller, a 17-year-old from Switzerland who was selected 11th overall by Everett in this year's import draft, has been a revelation this season for the Tips. He has two goals, 16 assists and is a plus-4 in 34 games, and he's become Everett's go-to player on the blue line since Ryan Murray suffered his shoulder injury. Mueller is currently away with the Swiss national U-20 team preparing for the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championships.

I'll be curious to see how this plays out for Mueller schedule-wise. With the game being all the way in Halifax, that means a lot of travel. I suppose there's a chance the Tips will just tell him to go straight from World Juniors to the Top Prospects Game, but that would cause Mueller to miss at least three more Tips games. Everett has home games on both the 15th and 18th, so it could be a real back-and-forth for Mueller.
