Cruise: Tour Snohomish in your decorated car
Snohomish plans its first-ever Freestyle Christmas Lights Cruise from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday.
Drive your decorated vehicle — two wheels or four, as long as it’s street legal — along a circular route that moves clockwise along First Street, Avenue D, Second Street and Union Avenue.
Enter anywhere along the route at any point, staying for a few laps or the whole hour.

Donate: Monroe band holds benefit concert
The Monroe Concert Band presents a benefit concert, The Reason for the Season, at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wagner Performing Arts Center, 639 W. Main St., Monroe.
Donations of non-perishable food, hygiene products, gloves, diapers and baby wipes will be collected for Take the Next Step, a Monroe nonprofit.

Volunteer: Arlington thrift store needs helpers
Community Thrift of Arlington seeks volunteers to pick up contributed merchandise, help operate the store, prepare displays, greet customers and other tasks.
The thrift store, operated by Quilceda Community Services and Sherwood Community Services, provides a work site for special-needs adults learning job skills. Proceeds from the store help support both nonprofits’ budgets.
Community Thrift is at 604 E. Gilman Ave. in Arlington.
The store is open Tuesdays to Saturdays and sells clothing, household goods, furniture and seasonal items.

Join: Group tackles underage drinking
Snohomish County will work with Marysville Middle School and the Marysville community to keep youth, young adults and others free of alcohol and other drug misuse.
The project is funded by a state grant. The Marysville Together Coalition will begin services no later than July 1 and invites community members to become involved with planning and implementing programs.
Marysville Together is to be represented by parents, grandparents, youth, healthcare professionals, educators, law enforcement, faith leaders, civic and volunteer groups, government, substance-abuse prevention and treatment organizations, business, media, schools and youth-serving organizations.

The annual Diversity Partnering Reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Carl Gipson Senior Center, 3025 Lombard Ave. in downtown Everett, to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Sponsors are needed to help produce the free event, which is highlighted by a recognition ceremony for winners of the Prodigies for Peace essay, video and art contest.
Those who provide $100 sponsorships will receive public recognition.
