Camano Island: Black and White Ball on Dec. 31
Camano Center's annual New Year's Eve Black and White Ball is 8 p.m. to midnight Dec. 31 at the center, 606 Arrowhead Road.
Camano Junction is set to play big band music.
Reservations are required by calling 360-387-0222 or 360-387-0148. Tickets will be $15 at the door and the price includes hors d'oeuvres. Beverages, including beer and wine, will be available for purchase.
Everett: Donate eyeglasses at Tips hockey games
Members of Everett Lions clubs plan to collect used eyeglasses at two Silvertips Hockey games as part of the Lions Score for Sight campaign.
The Lions each year send thousands of pairs of used eyeglasses to the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center in Lacey for sorting and grading. The glasses are given to people around the world who can't afford glasses.
Donations of the used eyeglasses and money for the Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation of Snohomish County are set to be collected at the Dec. 29 and Jan. 4 games at Comcast Arena, 2000 Hewitt Ave.

Oak Harbor: Club to start grant program
Oak Harbor Rotary Club has started an annual Community Service Grants Program for nonprofit organizations.
The grants are intended to promote the quality of life in the greater Oak Harbor area.
In 2013 the club anticipates making two $500 grants, two $1,000, one $2,000 and one $2,500 grant.
Oak Harbor Rotary, which has contributed to the community since 1936, provides scholarships, spearheads the annual July 4 parade and many other projects.
The club is set to begin accepting applications Jan. 4. The deadline is Feb. 13. Awards are to be announced in March.
