The Seahawks have won their past three games by a combined 130 points, but their biggest victory may have come Thursday morning.
Cornerback Richard Sherman, arguably the team’s best player this season, wrote on Twitter that he won the appeal of his four-game suspension for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Reports surfaced last month that Sherman and fellow starting cornerback Brandon Browner both failed drug tests and were facing four-game suspensions. After Browner’s agent initially said they would fight the ruling, Browner instead decided to begin serving his suspension following Seattle’s win in Chicago on Dec. 2. Sherman, however, maintained his innocence and continued to fight, saying repeatedly that “The truth will come out.”
With Sherman apparently now available for the season finale and the postseason, and with Browner eligible to return to action following Sunday’s game, the Seahawks are in great shape at cornerback, especially with Jeremy Lane and Byron Maxwell having gained experience in Browner’s absence.
UPDATE
The NFL hasn’t, and probably won’t announce the result of this, but Sherman has indeed won his appeal. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll recently weighed in on Twitter, saying, “Congrats to Richard Sherman for winning his appeal! Happy for him &it’ll be great to have him with us as we move forward.”
Here’s what the league had to say when contacted about the matter via email, “We are reviewing the decision, but decline comment at this time due to the confidentiality provision of the program.”
