“Complex Threads”: This collection of work from the Gail Harker Center for Creative Arts in La Conner takes textiles beyond simple embroidery to the modern-day world of industrial and experimental materials with works that include large 3-D wall hangings, intricate vessels, contemporary fiber art, multimedia and soft sculptures. As center founder Harker said: “The items exemplify the skills in design, media and technique that are the hallmark of our courses.” The exhibit opens with a reception at 5 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Schack Art Center, and is on view through Feb. 16. Go to www.schack.org for more information.
