50 years ago (1962)
Christmas contest awards were announced: Martin Cupic’s home, 2711 Grand Ave., Lotten W. Trotter’s home, 2211 Cleveland Ave., Richard D. Mahlum’s home, 220 W. 48th St., Dr. Harold Waltz’s home, 1332 Rucker Ave., and the 200 block of W. 48th St. Judges were Ruth Clement, Arne Jensen and Bernie Webber.
Whittier first graders Nancy Lee and Ross Johnson were reading a pre-primer to their teacher, Barbara Wise. The book, “High on a Hill,” was the last of the pre-primers the boys and girls would read before moving on to the primer level.
25 years ago (1987)
Karen E. Hanson of Everett was promoted to trust officer of First Interstate Bank of Washington’s Everett trust department at the main branch. She was a personal trust administrator. Russell J. Bucklew had joined the branch office, also as a trust officer. He specialized in personal trust and real estate administration.
Medico Head Injury System was completing the conversion of the closed Ballinger Elementary School property in Mountlake Terrace to a new residential treatment facility designed to serve up to 32 patients and provide a range of supervised living situations.
