Car's occupants escape before it's hit by train

EDMONDS -- No one was injured when a freight train hit a car on the railroad tracks in Edmonds late Saturday, according to Edmonds police.
The car, driven by a 24-year-old Seattle woman, got stuck about 11:30 p.m. on the tracks at the Dayton Street crossing. The woman and three passengers saw the northbound train coming and were able to get out of the car before it was hit, according to Sgt. Mark Marsh of the Edmonds Police Department.
The train pushed the car all the way north to the Main Street crossing by the ferry dock, Marsh said -- a distance of roughly a quarter-mile. The incident is being investigated by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway.
The woman and the passengers were leaving a wedding reception in the area. The driver was released at the scene pending possible charges, Marsh said.
