Games to watch in the new year

As the second half of the basketball season gets underway we thought it’d be a good idea to look ahead at some of the biggest games we’re looking forward to in 2013:

Wednesday, Jan. 2

Lake Stevens at Jackson girls

Game lost a bit of luster when Kelli Kingma got hurt, but there’s still plenty of star power in this Wesco North-South crossover

Tuesday, Jan. 8

Glacier Peak at Stanwood boys

Two of the best 3A teams in our area just saw each other at Coeur d’Alene invite.

Wednesday, Jan. 9

Stanwood at Glacier Peak girls

Two of the hottest teams in Wesco 3A battle in key North-South tilt

Everett at Meadowdale girls

The Lady Mavs are coming off a championship at Surf ‘N Slam and Everett is one of North’s best

Friday, Jan. 11

Mountlake Terrace at Stanwood boys

Spartans get another tough Wesco opponent, thankfully at home again

Arlington at Jackson boys

Best of the North vs. South; possibility both teams are unbeaten

Lynnwood at Snohomish girls

The unbeaten Royals get a big test in the Panthers, who just finished 3-0 at own invite

Wednesday, Jan. 16

Arlington at Lynnwood girls

It’s the best of the North vs. South in game that could feature two unbeatens

Friday, Jan 18

Cedar Park Christian-MLT at La Conner boys

Both teams are undefeated and this game could decide the NW 1A/2B League title

Jackson at Ed-Woodway girls

Rematch of a game that was close the first time around this game could decide second in 4A South

Saturday, Jan. 19

Arlington at Stanwood girls

Spartans host Eagles looking to avenge early season loss

Monday, Jan 28

Glacier Peak at Shorewood girls

The Thunderbirds look for revenge against Glacier Peak in a game that could decide 3A South

Tuesday, Jan. 29

Shorewood at Glacier Peak boys

The Grizzlies try to avenge their only league loss of the season

Snohomish at Arlington girls

Panthers looking for revenge in a game that could decide 4A North

Thursday, Jan. 31

Glacier Peak at M. Terrace boys

Hawks get shot at revenge as Grizzlies pay them a visit this time in game that could decide 3A South
