LAKE STEVENS - A 54-year-old Lake Stevens woman has been arrested for investigation of first-degree assault following an incident in which she allegedly shot her neighbor, a 24-year-old man, in the leg.

Around midnight Tuesday, Snohomish County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the 6400 block of 120th Drive NE in Lake Stevens to investigate a possible shooting.

The suspect had confronted the victim and his friends several times during the evening over fireworks being discharged, including some that she believed were being aimed at her property.

The victim was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound in the thigh. His injuries were not believed to be life threatening at the time, said Shari Ireton, spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Office.

The suspect was expected to be booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
