Zumiez same-store sales down 1%

LYNNWOOD -- Zumiez Inc., a retailer of sports apparel and equipment, on Thursday announced that net sales for the quarter that ended Dec. 29 increased 15.0% to $120.3 million, compared to $104.6 million for the same period a year ago. But same-store sales decreased 1.0% versus an increase of 10.0% in the same quarter in 2011.
The company said it operates 502 stores under two brands. There are 474 Zumiez stores in the U.S. and 20 in Canada. In Europe, the company owns eight Blue Tomato stores.
