‘The 206,’ Cinderella, birds, Stealth, more weekend fun

Laugh: “The 206,” a TV show in the spirit of the popular “Almost Live,” debuts this weekend. You can catch it on KING-TV (Channel 5) after Saturday Night Live on Saturday night (That’s 1 a.m. Sunday). You can also see it on KONG-TV at 7:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Sunday. Take a look at what “The 206” has been up to here. Read our earlier story about the show here.

Get outside: The weather is supposed to be nice Friday and Saturday. And since the sun is a rare visitor around here in the winter, you should take advantage of the chance. Some ideas:

Go for a hike on an all-season trail.

Go see the eagles on the Skagit River.

Take a walk and look for wildlife at Spencer Island.

• Go birding. Snow geese, swans and many other birds have settled in for the winter. If you head to the Stanwood and Silvana area, you’re likely to see many swans and geese. Here’s how to tell the difference.

Catch a game: The Stealth lacrosse team plays its first game of the season at 6:45 p.m. Saturday at Comcast Arena. You can learn more about the team or buy tickets here or read up on the team on our Stealth page.

A musical with heart: Village Theatre’s “Fiddler on the Roof” opens on Friday and runs through the month. The theater’s version will make you laugh and cry. It makes the most of the humor and emotion of the story. Read more about it here.

Cheer: The Seattle Seahawks face the Washington Redskins at 1:30 p.m on Sunday. Catch the action on TV on FOX. Read our coverage of the Hawks here.

Celebrate winter: This is the final weekend of winterfest at Seattle Center. Events continue through Sunday. There’s ice skating, a winter train village and more. Find details here.

For the family: Seattle Opera invites families to a free open house to introduce youngsters to Rossini’s whimsical opera “Cinderella” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at McCaw Hall in Seattle. The open house includes interactive dance stations, a lesson in patter singing and creating friendship bracelets. There will also be storytime, paper dolls and more. Learn more here.

Take down the tree: Most local Boy Scout troops will pick up Christmas trees curbside Saturday as part of an annual fundraiser. You can also drop off trees at Everett Community College. Find the details in our story here.
