MONROE -- Five people were arrested in Monroe on Friday as part of a lengthy investigation into drugs and stolen guns.

Monroe police and federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents together served a search warrant just before 6 a.m. at a home in the 300 block of Short Columbia Street, Monroe police spokeswoman Debbie Willis said.

Investigators recovered methamphetamine, heroin and stolen guns at the home, Willis said.

They declined to say how many guns were recovered. The investigation is continuing, she said.

Twelve people were at the home at the time, Willis said. Arrested were three Monroe men, one Monroe woman and one Duvall man.

They were expected to be booked for investigation of crimes including conspiracy, possessing drugs with intent to deliver and at least one outstanding warrant.

Police served a search warrant in the neighborhood about a year ago, Willis said. That case also was drug-related. It involved a brief standoff and a round of arrests linked to methamphetamine trafficking, marijuana growing and construction site thefts.
