Mukilteo: Plastic bag ban in force
On New Year’s day the city’s ban on plastic bags went into effect.
The new city rule prohibits businesses, in most cases, from giving customers single-use plastic bags at checkout counters.
Businesses are allowed to offer bags that are reusable or made from recyclable paper. Exceptions include plastic bags used for carry-out food, dry cleaner bags and bags used inside stores for customers to bag produce and meat.
For more information on the new ordinance, go to tinyurl.com/mukilteobags or call City Hall at 425-263-8000.
