It’s almost ‘Almost’

Almost 'Almost'

High five from a white guy: The Buzz enthusiastically welcomes the snarky return of "Almost Live" alumni John Keister and Pat Cashman to late-night TV with "The 206" at 1 a.m. Sundays on KING-TV, Channel 5.

At least we think that's Keister. Judging by the photo of the white-haired gentleman, that could be former Gov. Daniel J. Evans, R-The Evergreen State College.

Vodka tonic with a twist of fate: Idaho's U.S. Sen. Michael Crapo, R-Ignition Lock, has pleaded guilty to drunken driving following his arrest on Dec. 22 in a Washington, D.C., suburb. Crapo explained his alcohol use as a misguided attempt to relieve stress.

Idaho voters won't get the chance until 2016 to correct their misguided attempt to elect a senator.

Hey, 98.6, it's good to have you back again: The owner of a 134-foot thermometer in Baker, Calif., wants to sell the monument for $1.75 million. The thermometer, lit by 5,000 light bulbs, costs about $8,000 a month in electricity and is considered an eyesore.

Despite your childhood memories, this is not the thermometer that your mom used on you.

Don't know much about history: On this day in 1896, an Austrian newspaper, Wiener Presse, reported the discovery by German physicist Wilhelm Roentgen of a type of radiation that came to be known as X-rays (Today in History, at left).

We have no joke here; we just couldn't resist getting the words Wiener Presse into the column one more time.
