Prep boys swimming: Cascade 96, Stanwood 86

EVERETT -- Cascade's AJ Jenkins swam his best time of the season in winning the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.02 seconds and the Bruins depth turned out to be the deciding factor as Cascade edged out Stanwood in a Wesco swim meet.
"(AJ) had a rough stretch going into Christmas break. He couldn't swim due to a infection on his foot," said Cascade coach Eric Smith of Jenkins, who also won the 100 breaststroke and the anchor leg of the winning 400 free relay. "But he's cleared and back in the water and he looked really good."
Stanwood won five of the nine individual events and two of the three relay events but Cascade's depth and diving prowess was the difference. The Bruins finished 1-2-3 in diving. Stanwood doesn't have any divers.
"Those 13 points really put us over the top," Smith said of the diving competition.
