Stick a vibrating, flashing fork in it

Because a vibrating spoon would just be silly: Among the odder products to come out of the big Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week is a "smartfork" that encourages healthier eating by vibrating and flashing lights if it senses you are eating too quickly.

The company already is at work on an even more-advanced smartfork that uses a laser to incinerate anything tastier than a Brussels sprout before it gets to your mouth.

Still a few bugs in the system: Boeing and some in the airline industry are downplaying recent glitches reported among a few of the first Boeing 787 Dreamliners delivered to airlines, including a Japan Airlines 787 that suffered a battery fire after landing. The problems are common for a new plane design, Boeing and others said.

Boeing engineers, however, are rethinking an earlier design decision to make the 787 vibrate and flash lights when passengers' carry-on baggage is overweight.

Do not pass Go: Hasbro is running a Facebook poll to determine which of the eight Monopoly tokens to throw on the boardgame scrap heap and which new token to introduce.

Among the new tokens that people can vote for are a cat, a diamond ring, a guitar, a toy robot and a vibrating smartfork.
