Schack Art Center: 2921 Hoyt Ave., Everett; 425-259-5050; www.schack.org."Complex Threads": This collection of work from the Gail Harker Center for Creative Arts in La Conner takes textiles to new levels with industrial and experimental materials and pieces that include large 3-D wall hangings, intricate vessels, contemporary fiber art, multimedia and soft sculptures. As center founder Harker said: "The items exemplify the skills in design, media, and technique that are the hallmark of our courses;" the exhibit is on view through Feb. 16. There are 25 pieces in this exhibit showcasing landscapes, still lifes and equine art.

Admission $7 to $13, free ages 12 and under, first Thursdays free for all. "Elles: Women Artists from the Centre Pompidou, Paris" and "Elles: SAM – Singular Works by Seminal Women Artists;" the exhibit runs through Jan. 13. SAM is the only U.S. venue for this display of more than 130 works of art by 75 forward-thinking women artists from 1909 to 2007, including Sonia Delaunay, Frida Kahlo, Dora Maar, Diane Arbus, Cindy Sherman and the Guerrilla Girls.
Cafe Zippy: artists of all ages who have been or who are homeless will get the chance to show their art at Cafe Zippy. Contact Interfaith Association of Northwest for details. Art will be accepted through Jan. 11. Cafe Zippy is NOT the drop off point for art work. Call Interfaith at 425-252-6672. The art will be on display from Jan. 19 though Feb. 12.
Pacific Northwest artist Barbara A. Freeman, of Everett, has been chosen for inclusion in the 2013 Collective Vision Gallery show to be held in Bremerton. The annual CVG Show attracts more than 325 artists from 79 Washington cities submitting 896 artworks; of these only 127 pieces were selected for the show. Freeman is competing for $7,000 in prizes going to 11 artists in multiple categories. The 2013 CVG Show is open to the public from 1 to 5 p.m. Jan 19 at Collective Visions Gallery, 331 Pacific Ave., Bremerton. The exhibit continues until Feb. 23.
