Pamela Wanser has joined the Edmonds Community College Foundation as director of development. Wanser has more than 24 years of experience in development, most recently as director of major gifts and development for Ballet Arizona in Phoenix. She has also served in similar roles at The Phoenix Symphony and the Arizona Theatre Company.
Gov.-elect Jay Inslee has named Dale Peinecke the Washington State Employment Security commissioner. Until recently, Peinecke was the CEO of Giddens Industries, an aerospace manufacturer in Everett. He served as board chair of Workforce Development Council Snohomish County from 2006-12.
The Everett Public Facilities District, owner of the Comcast Arena, announced the appointment of Bob Bavasi to the EPFD board. He succeeds Mark Olson. Bavasi is a partner in Bavasi Sports Partners, a consulting group offering strategic planning in the sports business. Bavasi and his wife, Margaret, are former owners and operators of the Everett AquaSox.
Daniel Leach of D.A. Davidson &Co.’s Everett branch has been named senior financial consultant.
Dillon Works! Inc., a custom design and fabrication company in Mukilteo, has hired Jon Garcia as technical director. Garcia has experience with a variety of methods and materials, both as a designer and a fabricator. Previously he was a technical designer and director working in the theme park industry and on special events and theatrical productions.

Tulalip Resort Casino is one of 125 hotels in North America to be awarded the ninth annual Platinum Choice Award from Smart Meetings magazine. This award recognizes excellence in service and amenities among meeting facilities in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
Good deeds
Snohomish County Public Utility District has awarded 14 for science-related educational projects in local school districts. The grants help schools incorporate energy and water education into the curriculum. The districts include Arlington, Edmonds, Everett, Granite Falls and Monroe.
Walmart’s Washington State Giving Program awarded $750,000 in grants in 2012. Local grantees included the YWCA of Seattle, King County and Snohomish County and Senior Services of Island County’s Meals on Wheels program.

Last fall, nine teenage students learned the art of photography with Daily Herald photographers Annie and Mark Mulligan as part of the Promising Artists in Recovery program from the Denney Juvenile Justice Center in Everett. Their snapshots of life are on exhibit at the Schack Art Center through Feb. 3. More information is available at www.schack.org.

An open house to celebrate the completed renovation of Everett Community College’s Corporate &Continuing Education Center is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 4. Hill Street Investment is expanding Building 2425 in the 39th Street Business Park for Everett aerospace company Royell Manufacturing. Royell will use the 12,000 square feet for expanded assembly and kitting. An additional 10,000 square feet is planned, but no tenant has been signed.
Providence Health Care has acquired Northeast Washington Medical Group. NEWMG providers care for approximately 24,000 patients. Physicians will continue seeing patients at current NEWMG clinic locations.
AT&T has upgraded mobile Internet cell sites in Everett to expand AT&T 4G LTE coverage. These are along Highway 526 and Evergreen Way, along Highway 526 from I-5 to Paine Field, north of Paine Field, along Glenwood Avenue, in the View Ridge Madison area and along Mukilteo Boulevard.
