Burglaries down in Mukilteo

Fewer burglaries are being reported in Mukilteo, police say.

Crime prevention officer Cheol Kang shared these stats last week with Mukilteo Block Watch members.

Fourth quarter tallies
2012: 29
2011: 40
2010: 34
2009: 35

Annual tallies
2012: 121* (estimated – still closing out annual stats)
2011: 123
2010: 134
2009: 133

Here's an excerpt from Kang's message to Block Watch members:

“Overall it is a downward trend in total number of burglaries. I attribute a large part of this to your vigilance and timely reporting of suspicious activity. Let's keep looking out for one another in this great New Year!”
