Missing hiker in east Snohomish County

GOLD BAR -- Rescuers are responding to an emergency beacon alert from a missing hiker in eastern Snohomish County.

KIRO-TV reports the alerts began around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday from the 2,400-foot elevation of Mount Persis, which is off U.S. 2 east of Gold Bar.

The hiker is described as a 39-year-old man from Seattle.

A mountain rescue team and helicopter waited for daylight Thursday to begin the search.
