Nine players from the Seattle Mariners organization, including major leaguers Felix Hernandez, Oliver Perez, Alex Liddi and Michael Saunders, are scheduled to take part in this year's World Baseball Classic.

The tentative rosters for the WBC were released Thursday (see attached document).

Hernandez and Perez will pitch for Venezuela and Mexico, respectively. Liddi, an infielder, will compete for Italy, and Saunders, an outfielder, will play for Canada.

They will be joined in the WBC by five players from the Mariners' minor-league system: pitchers Brian Sweeney (Italy), Luiz Gohara (Brazil) and Thyago Vieira (Brazil), outfielder Kalian Sams (Netherlands), and infielder Pedro Okuda (Brazil).

The 16-team World Baseball Classic begins March 2. The championship game is scheduled for March 19 in San Francisco.
