This weekend is jam-packed with fun

If you’re bored this weekend, you’ve got only yourself to blame — it’s a veritable bonanza of fun out there. Here’s a sampling of what’s going on:

Night at the museum: Admission at the Imagine Children’s Museum in Everett is free from 5:30 to 9 Friday night.

Kidstock: A free day of fun Saturday at the Edmonds Center for the Arts includes performances by “kindie” rock bands, puppet shows and theater workshops. Kids can also try bouncy houses, hula hoops and juggling toys. Read more in our story here.

Take aim: Bring your bow and arrows to the Granite Falls Sportsmen’s Club for a Fun Shoot on Sunday. Archers can test their skills on life-size 3-D foam targets of an alligator, deer, turkey, bear, pig, porcupine and more. Learn more here.

Fee-free Monday: Fees are waived for many public lands in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. National parks, state parks and more than 74 day-use sites in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest are among those participating.

Martin Luther King Jr. tribute: Join the Snohomish County Black Heritage Committee in paying tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at 3 p.m. Sunday. The free event will be held at Spirit of Grace Methodist Church, 3530 Colby Ave., Everett. The event features the Rev. Alvin Moore as speaker and the MLK community choir, which will perform contemporary and gospel songs. For more information, call Danvonique Reed at 425-583-7739 or email niqueybreed3@hotmail.com.

The Little Mermaid Jr.: If you or your kids love the Disney film, check out the stage adaptation by Village Theatre’s Kidstage. There are performances at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. See Kidstage’s page for more information.

Strap on your snowshoes: Trips are in full swing at Stevens and Snoqualmie passes. Check out a list of outings here.

Or look for birds: Head to the Brightwater Center in Woodinville on Saturday morning for a free guided walk with naturalists who will teach you about the birds that linger here through the winter. For ages 8 and up; registration is required. Go here for more information or to sign up.

Try an Edmonds outing: Our parenting blogger lists six of her favorite places to visit.

And if that’s not enough for you, here are 22 places you can go to entertain the kids on boring winter days.
