Debbie Hoverson and Stanley Lacy, sixth graders at Monroe School, got a close look of a skull model in the hands of their teacher Robert Timm. The teaching of science had assumed new importance and a laboratory was one of a number purchased for science instruction.
Officers for Snohomish County Humane Society were elected with Gerhard G. Ruben named president. Other officers and board members selected were Christine Meyers, Shirley Olson, Herman Intveld, Grace Santeford, Carrie LeMay, Roger Sheppard, Henry Dahl Jr., R.F. Robinson, Dr. L.E. Wallace and H.A.B. Sneve.

A legislative reception sponsored by a variety of organizations working with disabled citizens was being held at Bethlehem Lutheran church in Marysville. Legislators from the 10th and 38th districts in Snohomish and Island counties had been invited to present information on support for families, education and other services.
Stevens Memorial Hospital's accreditation was renewed for another three years by a national medical commission, the hospital announced. The three-year accreditation, the maximum term allowed was granted by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare.
