YAKIMA -- A 23-year-old Yakima gang member who has a previous conviction for a shooting has been found with an AK-47 and arrested.
The Yakima Herald-Republic reports that Rigoberto E. Gonzalez -- known as "Crazy Thug" within his La Raza Norteno gang -- was arrested Thursday after a traffic stop. Besides the AK-47, police officers found a 30-round magazine in his car. It was the third arrest this year for Gonzalez, which includes two for firearms possession. He's being held on $200,000 bail.
Gonzalez was sentenced to more than six years in prison in 2005 after he opened fire near the entrance of a Wal-Mart. State corrections records show he was released in August 2011, and by November he was linked to a gang-related shooting by Yakima police.
