Beavers are nature’s engineers.
And to experience that up close — really close — Adopt A Stream Foundation and Snohomish County Parks and Recreation are teaming with Snohomish County Surface Water Management to show the IMAX movie, “Beavers.”
The movie is showing for free Feb. 8.
“The whole family will enjoy ‘Beavers,’” said Adopt A Stream Foundation Director Tom Murdoch. “Everyone will be able to take a virtual swim with beavers and experience the beautiful underwater habitat of one of nature’s greatest engineers.”
The movie is only 31 minutes long but it tracks a family of beavers in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. You can see dams being built, baby beavers playing and beavers learning to survive against the odds.
Sammy the Salmon introduces the film by way of telling the audience how beavers, salmon, trout and other wildlife co-exist.
Murdoch will answer questions from the audience after the movie about beaver habits and beavers’ living requirements, and share a few of his experiences with North America’s biggest rodent.
The event is free, but seats must be reserved by calling 425-316-8592.
“Beavers” is showing at 7 p.m. Feb. 8 at the NW Stream Center at Snohomish County’s McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. To learn more about upcoming Streamkeeper Academy events go to www.streamkeeper.org.
