Wedding Expo, ice skating and other weekend ideas

Plan your wedding: The Everett/Lynnwood Wedding Expo is this weekend at the Hansen Conference Center at Everett’s Comcast Arena. Find a dress and see the latest trends in entertainment, flowers and other bells and whistles. Doors open at 10 a.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday. This year, it’s even more of a circus. See why in our preview.

Hit the ice: You can skate on the same ice as the Everett Silvertips and help prevent flu or whooping cough when Comcast Arena hosts a free public skate and vaccination clinic. From 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, 300 doses of adult flu vaccine and 300 whooping cough vaccinations will be administered. We assume you will have to pause from skating to get the injections. Learn more here.

Get medieval: Put on your armor and head to the Evergreen State Fairgrounds for the Ursulmas Medieval Faire. The annual weekend of living history and tournaments runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. One-day tickets are $16, $8 and free for 5 and under. For more information, go to www.ursulmas.org or call 425-493-3453.

Go country in Stanwood: The Country Living Expo runs from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Stanwood High School. Raising livestock, preparing food and gardening are among the classes. You’ll also find vendors and lunch. More info: 360-428-4270.

See TV come to life: Phineas and Ferb create their biggest invention yet in a live performance Sunday at Comcast Arena. Characters from the Disney Channel series will amaze you when they take a giant slide onto the stage and enlighten you with their song “Squirrels in My Pants.” Enlighten may not be the right word. Shows are at 1 and 4 p.m., and tickets are $19-49. Read more about it in our preview here.

See stories in a new light: Puppeteers will perform three of Eric Carle’s classic children’s stories at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Civic Auditorium, 2415 Colby Ave., Everett. Tickets are $15. Special effects and a certain voracious caterpillar will be involved. Call 425-257-8600 or go to www.villagetheatre.org.

Get off to a safe start: A free night of activities focusing on safety, fitness and nutrition is planned Friday at 6:30 at Forest View Elementary School, 5601 156th St. SE, in the Seattle Hill Road area. All of the activities, including more than 25 informational booths, are aimed at families with school-age children.

Extreme threading: The Schack Art Center will display a collection of advanced student work that uses experimental materials to “push the boundaries of contemporary stitch and textile art,” the Schack says. Bet you didn’t even know there were boundaries, did you? Hours are 10-6 Friday, 10-5 Saturday and 12-5 Sunday.

Sounds of winter: Hear a free concert Sunday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Everett Public Library. Tania Opland will use her voice and a handful of instruments to tap into musical traditions from around the world. Find out more on the library’s website.

Laugh until you cry: “Fiddler on the Roof” closes its run Sunday at the Village Theatre. For tickets and showtimes, see villagetheatre.org. Read our review of the show here.
