Snohomish County sheriff's detectives spent Sunday investigating a suspicious death a few miles southeast of Lake Roesiger, but released few new details.

Deputies first responded to the rural area along the 7300 block of Woods Creek Road around 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Somebody had called 911 to report a body outside a burned-out vehicle, sheriff's Lt. Susy Johnson said. The vehicle had been backed into some trees on a large piece of private property, out of view from the road.

Authorities have not revealed the gender of the body. Deputies were initially unsure whether there was any connection between the vehicle and the property.

The sheriff's office Major Crimes Unit paused their investigation of the scene after dark on Saturday and resumed it Sunday morning, Johnson said. They finished collecting evidence that afternoon.

The scene is in a forested area about four miles south of Lake Roesiger and eight miles north of Monroe.
