PROSSER -- Construction has started on a wine center that has been a decade in the planning at a Yakima River overlook in Prosser.

The Tri-City Herald reported tjat it's called the Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center after the Washington State University researcher often called the father of the wine industry in the state.

Organizers hope to have the $4 million facility open by the end of October to showcase wine and agriculture. The center will host trade shows, conferences, cooking classes and wine-tastings that are expected to attract 45,000 visitors a year.
