Monroe | Boys basketball

The Bearcats post scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a win over Snohomish that kept the Bearcats’ playoff hopes alive. Gundersen also had 13 points in a loss to Mount Vernon earlier in the week.

Counting the votes: Gundersen won the fan vote and Herald prep editor Aaron Swaney voted for Gundersen. Rich Myhre voted for Kamiak’s Imaan Vicente, Herald prep writer Jon Saperstein voted for Jackson’s Brian Zehr, Herald prep writer Aaron Lommers voted for Edmonds-Woodway’s Travis Bakken and Herald prep writer David Krueger voted for Mountlake Terrace’s Loren Lacasse.

Everett | Girls basketball

The Seagulls guard scored 25 points, including six 3-pointers, in a win over Oak Harbor and had 18 points in a win over Marysville Getchell as the Seagulls wrapped up a district berth.

Counting the votes: Tulalip Heritage’s Adiya Jones-Smith won the fan vote. Myhre, Saperstein and Lommers voted for Rielly. Swaney voted for Mountlake Terrace’s Samantha Romanowski and Krueger voted for Cedarcrest’s Susan Kenney.

Edmonds-Woodway | Boys wrestling

On the bottom late in his match against Kamiak’s Spencer Mitchell, the Warriors grappler used a Peterson Roll, which consists of a wrestler grabbing an opponent’s hand and leg and rolling him to his back, to score a reversal and a near-fall. Vulliet controlled Mitchell on his back for the rest of the match to score a 9-0 major decision and secure the Warriors a one-point win over the Knights and their third league title.

Stanwood | Girls wrestling

The Spartans 130-pound grappler took first place at the Lady Wolf Pack Tournament to lead Stanwood to a fifth-place finish.

Edmonds-Woodway | Boys swimming

The Warriors swimmer won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle and swam the anchor leg of the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams to victories as E-W won the Edmonds-Woodway District Meet.
