Electrified by Father John Misty

Sunday night, Father John Misty opened the Neptune Theater for The Walkman. Tuesday night of the very same week Father John Misty headlined the very same venue and sold it out. Selling out a venue is a pretty big deal, and doing it just two nights after you played that same venue is sort of ridiculous.

Before we dive into the awesomeness that is Father John Misty, it should be mentioned that Seattle's Rose Windows opened the night and certainly left the stage with a healthy amount of new fans. These guys were great live and I'm sure they will be heard from again. We will be getting some more of their stuff up on the blog soon.

When Father John Misty took the stage, the crowd went crazy for front man Josh Tillman, who was back at home in Seattle. Tillman came prepared with a bottle of 14 Hands wine in his right hand, Bulleit bourbon in his left and a bag full of dance moves you wish you could pull off.

He also had some pretty fantastic stories about his life in Seattle before his music career took off.

"I used to wait at the bus stop across the street just staring at this place (the Neptune) while I waited to go do something I hate, like making acoustical paneling for Bill Gates' trampoline room or something" said Tillman in very serious manor.

The Father John Misty album "Fear Fun" is one of my favorite releases in the last few years. From start to finish you don't think it can get better. Then you experience the band live and realize that like all great bands they are best enjoyed in person and you never want it to end.

If Father John Misty isn't part of next week's Sasquatch! Music Festival lineup announcement I might set something on fire. OK, not really... but it would be a pretty big disappointment. Seeing this band live a must and when you witness a Josh Tillman performance I can promise that you will never forget it.
