Arlington: School leader to speak
Kristine McDuffy, superintendent of Arlington Public Schools, plans to present her fifth annual State of the District address at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Byrnes Performing Arts Center, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd., at Arlington High School.
McDuffy’s report on the state of the school district includes the budget, facilities, stewardship activities and a student progress report. People are encouraged to bring questions.
Everett: Course for caregivers
Bethany of the Northwest recently completed its first “Bethany Outreach” course, which trains people to be effective caregivers.
The Everett-based nonprofit will hold another 10-week course starting in late February. The pilot program focuses on such areas as listening skills, aging, grief, spiritual disciplines and community-based care.
The courses include six sessions on care-giving; two sessions on patient, family and staff experiences; one session on professional care systems; and one session on supervision. Thirteen people graduated from the first course, held October to December.

Lynnwood: City to launch new website
The city of Lynnwood plans to launch a new city website in early February.
The website should be better organized and easier to use, according to the Inside Lynnwood newsletter. It also will incorporate the city’s new branding visuals.
The current website is more than a decade old.
City officials invite people to check out the new website once it’s done.
Terrace: New art exhibit opens
The Mountlake Terrace Arts Advisory Commission plans the Jannelle Loewen Pastel Class Exhibit at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Ave. W. The exhibit features pastels by local artist and instructor Loewen and her students Bev Birmele, Kathy Berg, and Glenda Wilson.
The show runs through Feb. 28 at the Mountlake Terrace Library, Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 1 to 5 p.m.
