A new squad car is rolling around Granite Falls, thanks to a donation from the Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians.
Granite Falls police have been hurting for cars for a long time now. It didn’t help when one of their cars was damaged in a pursuit earlier this month.
Last year, when all the local police departments were deciding which basic cruiser model would replace their discontinued Crown Vics, Granite Falls didn’t care much, because there wasn’t any money for cars in the foreseeable future anyway.
Police Chief Dennis Taylor sent a note about the donation earlier this week.
“The new patrol car is a fully outfitted Dodge Magnum worth about $22,000, and were it not for the generous donation from the Tribe, we wouldn’t be able to afford something so nice,” he wrote.
“It’s perfect timing,” he said Thursday morning.
No picture is available of the car yet, because it went straight into use, the chief said.
