"Amaluna": This is Cirque du Soleil's show inspired by "The Tempest" and very women-oriented. It's set on an island governed by goddesses and after a group of men washes up on shore following a storm, a love storm brews between the queen's daughter and one of the young men; the band is all female and plays a big role on stage as "Prospera" leads the band and commands a lot of the action with her cello; runs at various times through March 24 at Marymoor Park, 6046 West Lake Sammamish Parkway NE, Redmond. Driftwood Theatre Arts Scholarships: Awards go to deserving students attending college in the 2013-14 school year. Applicants need to have demonstrated talent in the theatre arts and intend to study theater arts in college. Deadline is March 12. Must be a South Snohomish County or North King County resident. Applicants must provide: name, current address and phone number; name of current school and counselor or advisor; a list of high school or college extracurricular activities; any awards or honors; intended college for fall 2013; a letter from your teacher in your school's Theater Department or other theater mentor; an essay of 300-500 words about your interest in theater arts and what you plan to study in college; grade transcripts, including the first semester of senior year or latest quarter/semester of college; date of awards ceremonies at your high school (if applicable).
