COPALIS -- An airport on the Washington coast has been listed as one of the most unusual in the world.

The Copalis State Airport is literally on the coast -- on a beach covered by high tide.

The Singapore-based travel site relax.com.sg lists it among 18 of the world's most unique airports, such as the world's highest airport in Tibet.

KBKW reports Copalis State Airport is off Highway 109 north of Ocean Shores.

The airport is submerged at high tide. Reflective markers help the pilots of small planes land. Pilots are advised to aim for the dark sand, which is more firm, and stay out of the lighter-color soft sand.
