A Marysville man won a $5.2 million jackpot from the Washington Lottery's Lotto game Jan. 27.

The odds of matching all six numbers in the Lotto game are 1 to 6.99 million.

Douglas Hodgson, 57, a retired merchant marine, bought the ticket Saturday at 4th Street Market & Deli Inc. He plans to invest his winnings after he buys his daughter a Mini-Cooper car, according to a statement from the state Lottery.

He opted for the lump-sum payment method, which immediately cuts the winnings by 50 percent. He gets $1.95 million after the Washington Lottery withholds 25 percent for taxes.

The store that sold Hodgson the winning ticket gets a 1 percent selling bonus that comes out to $52,000.

According to Lottery district sales representative Susan Berger, the deli averages $4,500 in ticket sales per week. Larger stores such as Fred Meyer or Safeway take in much more from lottery sales.

Store owners Chang and Mi An immigrated to the United States in 1988. The couple are excited that their store is now "Marysville's lucky store."

"I'm very honored Marysville is a winner," Mi An said.
