Dog leads to suspect in armed robbery
Marysville police arrest a suspect after a man pointed a gun in the face of a convenience store clerk.

MARYSVILLE -- A police dog and quick access to video footage led to the arrest of an armed robbery suspect Sunday in Marysville.
Police were called to the 8000 block of State Avenue after a report of a holdup at a convenience store shortly after midnight.
The clerk told police that a customer asked for a pack of cigarettes and pointed a small handgun at him when his back was turned.
He told police that the gun was pointed "right at his face with the suspect's trigger finger on the trigger," court papers said.
The clerk emptied the till and handed over the money to a man with a scruffy beard who wore light blue basketball shorts and a dark hooded sweatshirt.
A witness said he saw the suspect running eastbound on 80th Street.
An Everett police dog was used to track the suspect.
The trail led police through a mobile home park and over a fence.
The dog led officers to the 8300 block of 53rd Drive NE where a man and woman were hanging out in a garage.
When the officer asked if either of them had seen anyone running by, the woman said no and the man made no comment.
The dog went south a short distance and then returned to the garage.
The man agreed to talk to the officer in the front yard.
As they were chatting, another officer arrived with a photo taken from the convenience store surveillance camera. The photo matched the man who had been in the garage.
When police showed the photo to the woman from the garage, "her eyes got very large and she had a blank look on her face," court papers said.
The convenience store clerk was driven to the scene and identified the suspect as the man who robbed the store.
The suspect then led police into a room where they retrieved blue shorts believed to be worn in the robbery. He also led police to a parking lot where they found the weapon.
The suspect, 26, was arrested for investigation of robbery and possession of a stolen firearm. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
