Comedy night: laughs were good, and so was the cause

This past weekend my husband and I enjoyed a rare night out together when we went to the 6th annual Edmonds Comedy Night down at Edmonds Center for the Arts. It's now five days later and I'm still laughing.

Comics Gabriel Rutledge, Rodney Sherwood, Jen Seaman, and Kermet Apio covered a wide variety of topics, from parenting, to dating, to the inherent funniness of the word "Sequim." Basically, there was something for everyone.

The really cool part about Edmonds Comedy Night is that it benefits schools within the Edmonds School District, which includes Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace and Woodway.

When I purchased my tickets I had the option of choosing which participating school I wanted to support.

But I bet there were a lot of people in the audience who didn't even know they were at a fundraiser. That was what was so brilliant!

Edmonds Comedy Night has its own intrinsic worth because it brings nationally recognized comedians to Edmonds.

So here's an open invitation to Arlington, Everett, Lake Stevens, Marysville, Stanwood-Camano and any other school district I forgot. I want to hear your ideas for creative fundraising.

I'd be happy to blog about your next event, too, just so long as it isn't a casino night, an auction, a jog-a-thon, a phone-a-thon or anything with "thon" or "drive" in the title.
