EVERETT -- Nicota Stevenson scored 10 of his 16 points in the first half to help Monroe get off to a good start and the Bearcats held off Mariner in a 4A District 1 loser-out game. Cody Chrisman scored 16 points for the Maruaders, who cut the lead to three in the fourth quarter, but the Bearcats' free-throw shooting iced the contest late in the game.
