Storm sign two

Guards Johnson and Quinn added to the fold

The Seattle Storm annoucned they have signed guards Temeka Johnson and Noelle Quinn to free-agent contracts on Thursday.

The signings of Johnson and Quinn brings the roster to 11 players after head coach and general manager Brian Agler announced Lauren Jackson and Ann Wauters would not play for the Storm in 2013.

Johnson was the sixth overall pick in the 2005 WNBA draft and has spent time with the Phoenix Mercury, Washington Mystics and Tulsa Shock. She averages 8.5 points, 2.9 rebouns and 4.5 assists per game for her career.

"Temeka has proven to be one of the best point guards in the WNBA," Agler said in a press release. "She is a fierce competitor, a great leader and has excellent point guard skills at both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Temeka really gained our respect by how she has played us over the years."

Quinn most recently played with Washington, but has also spent time in Minnesota and Los Angeles. She averages 6.1 points and 2.9 rebounds per game for her career.

“Noelle is a very versatile perimeter player with size,” Agler said. “And she is one of the most skilled in the WNBA. We have admired Noelle's ability over the years and believe she is a great fit for the Seattle Storm. We have tried multiple times to acquire Noelle in the past, so are delighted to finally see her as a part of the Storm's future.”

The Storm opens the 2013 season on the road, at Los Angeles, May 26. The home opener is June 2 versus Phoenix.
