MARYSVILLE – Police here have arrested a woman in connection with the Jan. 25 stabbing death of a Marysville man, and they say more arrests are expected.
The woman, 28, was being held at the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of murder, robbery, and motor vehicle theft, Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said in a press release early Monday. She already was behind bars on another matter when police developed cause for her arrest in the killing of Arthur Schroeder, 82, he said.
Police didn’t immediately describe how the woman knows Schroeder. She came to their attention based on tips, including information that she allegedly told others she had killed him, Lamoureux said.
That information, combined with evidence from the crime scene, led to her arrest in this case, Lamoureux said.
“This investigation is not yet complete,” he said. “We anticipate additional arrests will be made in the coming days for others who were either directly involved in the murder or participated after the fact.”
Schroeder was found stabbed to death just inside his ransacked trailer home at the Brookside Mobile RV Park in the 9800 block of State Avenue.
His 2006 Chevrolet Colorado pickup was not in the driveway. It was found burning on vacant land north of Arlington, hours after the body was discovered.
Schroeder was a registered sex offender who spent 18 years in prison, according to state Department of Corrections records. The crimes, involving 20 victims, took place between 1980 and 1983 and included girls ages 8 to 14.
His last conviction came in February 2011 when he pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender.
