Art sought for new park near Bothell

The Snohomish County Arts Commission is looking for site-specific art proposals to be featured at Miner's Corner Park.
The potential works will be placed at up to three sites within the park, and only artwork that integrates Americans with Disabilities Act design guidelines will be considered, seeing that Miner's Corner Park is set to become the county's first fully inclusive park.
The new park is located at the intersection of 228th Street southeast and 45th Avenue southeast, east of Bothell.
"The opportunities are boundless," said Wendy Becker, county economic and cultural development officer. "The county is really going to get a good bang for its buck."
Money for the project comes from fees some construction projects must pay for public art.
The budget is $51,500, according to Becker.
"All of us believe that art in public spaces make for great communities, and one of the best places to have great art is in our parks." said Tom Teigen, county parks director.
The competition is open to professional artists. The deadline for conceptions is April 1. Up to three artists will be chosen as finalists and will be asked to develop formal proposals. A winner or winners will be picked from those.
