MOUNTLAKE TERRACE -- No one was hurt Tuesday during a lengthy police standoff in Mountlake Terrace.

Police were called about 11:30 a.m. about a reportedly suicidal woman at a home in the 4500 block of 229th Street SW, just north of Lake Ballinger.

The woman refused to come outside and claimed she had turned the gas on in her house, Mountlake Terrace police Cmdr. Don Duncan said.

Emergency crews shut off the gas to the house, he said. They also called in some members of the local SWAT team.

The woman, 50, eventually surrendered and was taken into custody about 3:15 p.m.
