EVERETT -- A Snohomish County judge found probable cause Monday to hold a 15-year-old boy for investigation of second-degree assault in connection with Friday's incident that led to gunfire outside a federal office in Bothell.
The boy was being held at the Denney Juvenile Justice Center in Everett. On Monday, a judge set bail at $10,000. Prosecutors have until Wednesday to file charges against the boy.
The high school freshman was shot in the foot by a security guard during a confrontation in the parking lot at a Food and Drug Administration's regional office.
Two contract security officers saw somebody run away as officers approached. The suspect came back, got behind the wheel of a car and backed out. The car struck one of the officers, police said.
The security officers fired at the car.
Information from the vehicle led Bothell officers to a home where the injured teen was found.
He is a freshman at the Northshore School District's Secondary Academy for Success, an alternative school, district officials said. The campus shares a driveway with the district's maintenance and operations building. It is a couple of blocks away from the FDA site.
