Stanwood | Boys basketball

The Spartans sixth man scored eight of his 14 points in a key second-quarter surge as the Spartans beat Shorecrest and had 16 points off the bench in a come-from-behind win over Glacier Peak as Stanwood advanced to the 3A District 1 championship game.

Counting the votes: Mount Vernon's Kevin Hofstad won the fan vote. Herald prep editor Aaron Swaney, and Herald writers David Kreuger, Rich Myhre and Aaron Lommers all voted for Zipp. Herald prep writer Jon Saperstein voted for Jason Todd.

Everett | Girls basketball

The Seagulls junior scored 26 points in a win over Shorewood and had 25 in a victory over North No. 1 seed Stanwood as Everett advanced to the 3A District 1 championship game.

Counting the votes: Snohomish's Madeline Smith won the fan vote. Swaney, Lommers, Myhre and Krueger all voted for Rielly.

Garrett Arrona

Stanwood | Wrestling

After losing to Marysville Pilchuck's Ismael Perez in the championship match of the district final the week earlier, the Spartans 195-pounder got the better of the Tomahawks wrestler in the regional final to win the 195-pound region championship and lead Stanwood to a team regional title.

AJ Jenkins

Cascade | Boys swimming

The Bruins' senior won both of his individual events, the 200-yard freestyle and the 100 butterfly, with personal records and his 100 butterfly time was good enough for All-American consideration at the Northwest District 1 4A swim and dive championship meet.
