MOUNT VERNON — Sehome jumped all over Cedarcrest from the tip and beat the Red Wolves 68-54 in a 2A District 1/2 boys basketball consolation semifinal game Wednesday night at Mount Vernon H.S.
The loss ended Cedarcrest’s season while Sehome advanced to a winner-to-regionals game against Anacortes or Sultan on Friday.
Sehome outscored Cedarcrest 19-6 in the game’s first eight minutes and the Red Wolves didn’t threaten from that point.
Zach Taylor scored 18 in his last game for Cedarcrest. Teammate Jordan Corpus added 18 and two 3-pointers for the Red Wolves.
Cedarcrest made a run in the fourth quarter, but the Mariners hit enough free throws down the stretch to hold the Red Wolves at bay.
