Lynnwood couple sentenced for fraud

SEATTLE -- A Lynnwood man and his wife, convicted of defrauding government programs for the needy, were sentenced Wednesday to a month in prison and six months of home detention.
Igor Meyer, 47, and his wife, Zoya Mushailova, 35, collected housing and other government benefits despite owning their own home and making about $100,000 a year.
The couple drove luxury cars, took international vacations and owned property in Arizona, federal prosecutors said.
They defrauded programs for the needy of more than $70,000 over three years. Meyer lied about his income and claimed to be a single father without a job. He applied for food and Social Security benefits.
The couple was indicted in 2011. A jury convicted them a year later of multiple counts of mail fraud and theft of government funds.
