Luring incident in Monroe prompts warning

MONROE -- Police are warning neighbors about a luring incident reported Wednesday night at Skykomish River Park off Village Way.

Two girls, 9 and 11, were at the swings in the park about 5:45 p.m. when a man approached them and told them, "Come here," according to police.

The girls left the area and found another family at the park. The family walked the girls over to the nearby Boys & Girls Club to call 911, Monroe police spokeswoman Debbie Willis said.

The man was described as white, thin and in his 20s, with blond hair. He wore a black jacket or sweatshirt. He may be associated with a dark tan sedan.

The girls made the right decision to stay together, leave the scene and get help, Willis said.

Anyone with information should call 360-794-6300. Anonymous information can be left at 360-863-4600.
